What it is
The Safety Business Gateway is the European Commission’s portal through which businesses notify dangerous products and product-related accidents to authorities. It is the business-facing counterpart to the Safety Gate alert system, and the channel the GPSR points operators to.
Why it matters for compliance
Under the GPSR, when a product placed on the market proves unsafe, operators must take corrective action and inform the authorities — and notify accidents. Knowing when a defect crosses the threshold of reportability, and reporting promptly and completely, is a core competence of incident management. Under-reporting risks enforcement and amplifies harm.
