What it is
ICSMS (the Information and Communication System on Market Surveillance) is the EU system that market-surveillance authorities use to coordinate their work — sharing information about products they have checked, tests performed and measures taken — so that enforcement is increasingly Union-wide rather than purely national.
Why it matters for compliance
ICSMS is mostly an authority-facing tool, but its existence matters to brands: it is part of why a problem detected in one Member State can travel. Combined with the public Safety Gate and increasingly automated online surveillance, it means a non-compliant product is more likely to be detected, investigated and acted on consistently across markets.
