What it is
UNI (Ente Italiano di Normazione) is Italy’s national standards body and the Italian member of the European organisation CEN and the international body ISO. It develops Italian standards (UNI) and publishes the Italian adoptions of European (EN) and international standards. Italian electrotechnical standardisation is handled by its sister body, CEI.
Why it matters for compliance
Conformity in practice means applying the right standard, and UNI is where you access and buy the EN standards your product needs for the Italian market. A standard’s legal weight comes from being harmonised (cited in the Official Journal) for the applicable legislation.
