What it is
This is the searchable catalogue of published European standards (ENs) maintained by CEN and CENELEC. It lets you find a standard by number, title or subject, and see its status and references.
Why it matters for compliance
Demonstrating conformity in practice usually means applying the right standard. The catalogue is how you locate candidate standards for your product — but standards are bought and read through national members, and the legal weight comes from whether a standard is harmonised (cited in the Official Journal) for your legislation, which you confirm separately.
How to use it
- Search by product type or standard number to find candidate ENs.
- Note the standard’s current edition — superseded versions can leave conformity gaps.
- Cross-check whether the standard is harmonised for the legislation you rely on.
- Purchase the text via your national standards body (e.g. DIN, AFNOR, Dansk Standard).
Good to know
A relevant-sounding standard is not automatically legal cover — always confirm its harmonised status and Official Journal citation for the applicable rule.
