What it is
DKE (the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) is Germany’s body for electrotechnical standardisation, operating under the VDE. It is the German member of the European organisation CENELEC and of the international IEC, and it produces the German electrotechnical standards (DIN EN, VDE).
Why it matters for compliance
For electrical and electronic products, the standards that demonstrate conformity under regimes such as the Low Voltage Directive, EMC and the Radio Equipment Directive are largely electrotechnical — and DKE is the German route to them. As with all standards bodies, the legal weight comes from a standard being harmonised and cited in the Official Journal for the applicable legislation.
