The catalogue is how you locate candidate standards for your product — but standards are bought and read through national members, and the legal weight comes from whether a standard is harmonised (cited in the Official Journal) for your legislation, which you confirm separately.

- Note the standard’s current edition — superseded versions can leave conformity gaps.
- Cross-check whether the standard is harmonised for the legislation you rely on.
- Purchase the text via your national standards body (e.g. DIN, AFNOR, Dansk Standard).
Good to know
A relevant-sounding standard is not automatically legal cover — always confirm its harmonised status and Official Journal citation for the applicable rule.
