What it is
Dansk Standard (DS) is Denmark’s national standards body and the Danish member of the European standards organisations CEN and CENELEC (and of ISO/IEC). It develops Danish standards and publishes the Danish adoptions of European and international standards.
Why it matters for compliance
Demonstrating conformity usually means applying the right standard — and national bodies like Dansk Standard are where you access and buy the EN standards your product needs. The legal weight comes from a standard being harmonised (cited in the Official Journal) for your legislation, but Dansk Standard is the practical Danish gateway to the texts and to participation in standardisation.
How to use it
- Find and purchase the EN/DS standards relevant to your product.
- Confirm a standard is harmonised and current for the applicable legislation.
- Engage with standardisation work in your sector through DS committees.
Good to know
Standards are also commercial currency — buyers and procurement often specify them — so the same standard can be both a compliance tool and a customer requirement.
