What it is
The CCPC (the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission) is Ireland’s statutory body for competition and consumer protection, including the safety of non-food consumer products covered by certain EU directives and regulations.
Why it matters for compliance
For products sold in Ireland, the CCPC is the market-surveillance authority that can check products, request documentation and act on unsafe goods. It is the Irish enforcement contact a consumer-product brand is most likely to meet; standards and conformity assessment sit with NSAI.
How to use it
- Keep your technical file and DoC ready for a documentation request.
- Use CCPC guidance for Irish product-safety expectations.
- Pair it with NSAI for the standards and any notified-body assessment.
Good to know
National authorities across the EU cooperate and share findings, so a problem identified in Ireland can prompt action in other Member States too.
