ASRO — Romania's national standards body

ASRO is the Romanian Standards Association — the Romanian member of CEN and ISO and the route to the standards behind conformity.

What it is

ASRO (Asociația de Standardizare din România, the Romanian Standards Association) is Romania’s national standards body and the Romanian member of the European organisation CEN and the international body ISO. It publishes Romanian standards (SR) and the Romanian adoptions of European (EN) and international standards.

Why it matters for compliance

Conformity in practice means applying the right standard, and ASRO is where you access the EN standards your product needs for the Romanian market. A standard’s legal weight comes from being harmonised (cited in the Official Journal) for the applicable legislation.

How to use it

  • Find and access the relevant EN/SR standards for your product.
  • Confirm a standard is harmonised and current for the applicable legislation.
  • Pair it with Romania’s consumer-protection authority, ANPC, for enforcement.

Good to know

Standards function as both compliance tools and commercial requirements — buyers and procurement often specify them.
