What it is
SEK Svensk Elstandard is Sweden’s body for electrotechnical standardisation and the Swedish member of the European organisation CENELEC and the international IEC. It produces the Swedish electrotechnical standards, complementing SIS, which handles standardisation in other fields.
Why it matters for compliance
For electrical and electronic products, the standards that demonstrate conformity under regimes such as the Low Voltage Directive and EMC are electrotechnical — and SEK is the Swedish route to them. A standard’s legal weight comes from being harmonised (cited in the Official Journal) for the applicable legislation.
