The UAS Regulation is the EU's product law for drones: it turns them into CE-marked products with a clear class identity.
It applies to manufacturers, importers and distributors of drones for the open category and of remote identification add-ons, and it reaches operators outside the EU who fly in European airspace.
Drones are sorted into classes C0 to C4 by take-off mass, design and features. Regulation 2019/945 governs the product; Implementing Regulation 2019/947 governs the flying, in the Open, Specific and Certified categories.
You design to the class, complete the matching conformity assessment, keep technical documentation with an EU declaration of conformity, apply the class label and CE marking, build in remote identification and geo-awareness where required, and supply instructions with the operating limitations.
