The Cableway Installations Regulation governs installations that carry people by cable, and the subsystems and safety components built into them.

It applies to manufacturers, authorised representatives, importers and distributors of those subsystems and safety components. Using the finished installation stays under national authorisation, and lifts have their own directive.

It has applied since 21 April 2018, when it replaced Directive 2000/9/EC, and as a regulation it applies directly in every member state.

Your product must support the installation's safety analysis and meet the essential requirements; it goes through conformity assessment with a notified body, gets an EU declaration of conformity and CE marking with the notified body number, and comes with technical documentation, traceability marks and instructions.
