Transcript
The Metrology Directive is the EU's framework law for legal metrology: the shared machinery of pattern approval, initial verification and markings that the specific instrument directives build on.
It concerns manufacturers, authorised representatives and importers of measuring instruments, the national metrology authorities, and the businesses that use those instruments in regulated trade.
Directive 2009/34/EC codified the long-standing framework in 2009 without changing its substance, and it takes effect through national transposition, administered by each member state's metrology authority.
You identify the specific directive that governs your instrument, obtain EC pattern approval for the design where required, present each instrument for EC initial verification, apply the markings showing approval and verification, and keep the documentation available.
Conphora maps your instruments against MetrD and the specific directives, flags gaps in pattern approval, initial verification and markings, and alerts you when the rules or national transposition change.
