Transcript
The Low Voltage Directive is the EU's core safety law for most mains-powered electrical equipment, protecting people, animals and property from shock, fire and other electrical hazards.
It applies to manufacturers, authorised representatives, importers and distributors of equipment rated between 50 and 1000 volts AC or 75 and 1500 volts DC: appliances, power tools, lighting, electronics, power supplies and cables.
It rarely applies alone: the same product usually has to meet the EMC Directive as well, and for radio products RED covers electrical safety instead.
You assess the equipment against the Annex I safety objectives using harmonised standards, keep technical documentation for ten years, run internal production control without a notified body, and draw up an EU declaration of conformity with CE marking.
Conphora maps your products against the LVD, flags gaps in the safety objectives, standards, documentation, the declaration and CE marking, and alerts you when the rules change.
