The Gas Appliances Regulation is the EU's safety law for appliances that burn gas, and for the fittings built into them.
It applies to manufacturers, importers, distributors and authorised representatives of cookers, hobs, water heaters, boilers and space heaters, and of the safety, controlling and regulating devices inside them.
It has applied since 21 April 2018, when it replaced the Gas Appliances Directive, and as a regulation it applies directly in every member state.
You meet the essential requirements for safety and energy, take the appliance through EU-type examination and production checks with a notified body, keep technical documentation, draw up an EU declaration of conformity, affix CE marking with the notified body number, and supply installation, use and servicing instructions.
